Monetary, Financial and Regulatory Policy Group

The Group supports the bank in achieving its monetary and financial stability goals by providing comprehensive and timely research papers, statistical reports and policy analysis.

It also executes on this goal through monitoring the safety and soundness of domestic banks and non-bank financial institutions that are licensed by CBS such as money transfer businessesand mobile money operators.

The Group provides the regulation and oversight for the national payment system and ensures the financial health of the country’s finance sector more broadly. It is responsible for providing advice and guidance for the formulation and conduct of monetary policy and for maintaining the stability ofSomalia’s financial system. It conducts fundamental research on monetary policy tools and targets and tools, national financial transmission mechanisms, financial stabilityand foreign exchange policies.
